Real Estate Journey
My Real Estate journey started in May 2023, where I had made a decision to pivot and expand my unique abilities and skillset. To this point in my life, I had already developed a deeper understanding of many industries, having had worked in education, behavioral health, medical, broadcasting, law enforcement, federal, hotel and hospitality, retail, start-up, tech, biotech, corporate, and more. However, nothing stuck.

I had never felt the feeling of total fulfillment and accomplishment. Everything that I did, left me with a feeling of lack or a sense that I did not belong. This has led me down this path, in which I am now being challenged with yet another industry: Real Estate.
The First Three Months
I had enrolled into the three required Real Estate classes (Practice and Principles, along with one optional class. I took the Legal course.) in May 2023. I had passed the courses and applied for my California Department of Real Estate combination State Licensing and State Exam at the end of July and was approved for the exam in early October 2023. I had passed the exam on my first attempt and signed with Corcoran Icon Properties in November 2023. My initial introduction into Real Estate took me six months.
Since signing with Corcoran Icon Properties, I have learned so much. I have been able to co-host four open houses, open a vacant land listing, connect a couple of other agents on a possible referral opportunity, meet a couple perspective clients. and meet perspective partnering lenders and escrow officers. It has been a whirlwind of education and the learning curve of this industry has been predicated on leveraging one's current network, also known as their sphere of influence.

What I wish I knew before I started was understanding that my success would be dependent on the financial health of my current network.

So far, as optimistic as I have been, it is impossible to stay the course without any return of investments, monetary, time, energy spent or otherwise. It kind of all seems all for not.
